A suspicious package investigation closed off areas of Calgary’s Beltline neighbourhood for several hours on Tuesday.
Calgary police say they were called to 12 Avenue SW near Central Memorial Park around 4:45 p.m. for reports of a suspicious package.
Police closed off parts of the park to pedestrians and also shut down 12 Avenue between 4 Street and 2 Street SW for the investigation. The road reopened around 7:30 p.m.
Investigators reported the situation was resolved as of 9 p.m. At that time, police said officers were still examining the object but it appeared there was no risk to the public.
The origin and material in the object are still being reviewed by police.
The investigation is ongoing.
