A mudslide has washed out a portion of Highway 40 south of Kananaskis Village and southwest of Calgary on Sunday.
The incident near Highwood Pass happened just before noon.
The province’s traffic service, 511 Alberta, says Highway 40 is closed in both directions between Mist Creek Day-use Area and Mount Lipsett Day-use Area, south of Kananaskis Village.
All lanes are closed, and 511 Alberta is recommending drivers use alternate routes.
RCMP says the highway isn’t passable, and it could be days before it’s cleared by road crews.
Check with 511 Alberta if your travels take you to that area.
