Alberta RCMP are investigating a suspicious death after a person was killed while driving on Highway 2 south of Leduc near Township Road 490.
Mounties say reports came in around 2:50 p.m., indicating someone noticed a white/grey dirty pickup truck pull beside a car that was later identified as a black 2012 Honda Civic, before speeding off while the Civic pulled over.
Through an investigation, police learned that a weapon had been discharged toward the Civic, resulting in the driver’s death.
Cpl. Matthew Howell said road rage has not been ruled out. Nor has the possibility that the deadly attack was targeted or random.
Police are asking if anyone witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage of Highway 2 near Township Road 490, around 2:50 p.m., to contact investigators at 780-980-7267 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
