Man in 60s critically hurt after being pinned under CTrain

Calgary police are continuing to investigate a collision involving a CTrain that left a man in life-threatening condition Thursday afternoon.

A man in his 60s is in critical condition after being pinned underneath a CTrain in downtown Calgary on Thursday.

Calgary police say the collision happened at 7 Avenue and Centre Street S around 5:30 p.m.

Police say the pedestrian was walking southbound on Centre Street approaching 7 Avenue S when he entered the path of the oncoming train.

The train was moving through the intersection on a green signal.

He was pinned under the train before being freed by emergency crews.

The man was rushed to hospital in life‑threatening condition.

Speed and impairment are not believed to be factors in this collision.

The investigation is ongoing.

CTrain service along 7 Avenue was halted for a few hours due to the incident. Service resumed shortly before 8:30 p.m.
