Guns in High River returned

Nearly half of the guns seized by Mounties during flooding in High River have now been returned to their owners.

Sgt. Patricia Neely said 300 firearms so far have been picked up.

The Calgary Sun reports at least one prohibited gun was seized, but no charges have been laid.

RCMP were heavily criticized for confiscating the weapons they said were all improperly stored and posed a safety risk to the public.

Police said they have contacted every homeowner that had a firearm taken from their home.
