Criminal charges against ex-Edmonton Oiler Jason Smith have been dropped.
Smith was facing two charges of common assault and one of unlawful confinement in connection with an incident in Calgary back in August where his wife accused him of becoming physical during a verbal altercation.
Smith has agreed to enter into a peace bond and serve probation.
A provincial court judge has ordered Smith to get counseling for both domestic and alcohol abuse.
Smith’s lawyer says everyone is committed to putting the family back together and no one is seeking a no contact order.
