New information is coming out about two Alberta men rounded up as part of an international child pornography sting.
Daniel Clayton, 29, was charged last April and has pleaded not guilty. He will be tried by judge and jury in 2011.
The Calgary Herald reports Clayton moved to Canada in 2006 after serving with the British military until 2004.
He is a self-proclaimed security expert and was once quoted by a Toronto newspaper as having the cell phone number of Amanda Lindhout’s kidnappers.
Lindhout, an Alberta freelance journalist, was freed more than a year after being kidnapped while working on a story in Somalia.
The other Albertan facing charges has been identified as 33-year-old Andrew John Tettersell of Sylvan Lake.
He tells The Calgary Sun he’s not sure how he’s going to plead and will be talking to a lawyer.
Almost half of the 57 people facing charges as part of the sting, which involved Canada, the United States and parts of Europe, are Canadian.
Police say twelve young children were also rescued during the operation, with the youngest victim being a two-year-old in the U.S.
Investigators say what’s disturbing about this case is the fact that many of the accused appear to be totally normal, including a former Anglican Minister and a professional clown.
