Is it time for our province to follow Quebec’s lead and mandate winter tires?
Since the blizzard hit 9 days ago, there have been about 2,000 crashes in Alberta, and reports say Calgary is currently approaching the $13-million mark in insurance claims.
660News chatted with drivers at The Road King truck stop in the southeast.
A lot of people said they were all for the use of snow tires.
When it comes to whether or not they should be mandatory, many commercial drivers said it was common sense.
“Too many people with regular tires are spinning off the road. Coming from Strathmore yesterday into the city, I noticed 20 vehicles at least in the ditch, and probably because they didn’t have the right rubber on the back end of the car,” one driver said.
“If It’s causing a lot of accidents on the road, it should be addressed,” another man added.
Others say its a great invention, but they should be able to have the choice.
