Close call for officer

Calgary Police are searching for an driver who almost hit one of their own.
Around 11:00 p.m., District 4 mountain bike officers were patrolling in the area of 16th Avenue and 46th Street Southeast when they found a Dodge Calibre sitting at a stop sign.
Loud music was blasting from the dark-coloured car and officers stopped to talk to the driver.
Duty Inspector Paul Stacey tells 660News that’s when the man took off.
“As soon as he realized he was talking to a police officer, he floored his vehicle but, in doing that, there was another mountain bike officer that was right in front of his vehicle and had to dive to get out of the way. Nobody was injured at this point but this fellow was last seen running several red lights,” says Stacey.
The driver is described as a white male, between 20 and 30-years-old, with a slim build and lightly-tanned skin.
The HAWCS helicopter was sent out to try and find the car, but to no avail.
At last word, police continued their search for the driver.
