Car seat recall over harness slippage

Transport Canada is advising the public about a potential safety issue involving child car seats.

The seats were made between May of 2008 and April of 2009.

The brands affected in the advisory are major ones:  Cosco, Eddie Bauer, Safety 1st, Maxi-Cosi and Schwinn.

Ten complaints have been launched with Transport Canada with respect to the harness slipping.

Over 135-thousand seats are affected in Canada.

The problem is that the front adjuster mechanism may not allow the webbing to lock in place, loosening the harness and failing to protect the child who is strapped in.
