Fake guns give real scare

A school bus full of children received quite a scare Monday morning when they saw what was believed to be a man pointing a gun at the bus they were riding on.

Police say the incident happened shortly before 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Barlow Trail and 50 Avenue southeast.

After receiving a 911 call officers immediately surrounded the area and located the vehicle involved.

They took the 34-year-old driver into custody and found him in possession of what appeared to be two handguns.

Sergeant John McCarthy says it was determined the weapons were simply very good replica BB guns.

The man told police he wasn’t pointing the toys he was simply admiring his fake guns and was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The weapons are said to look so real even fellow officers believe they were actual guns.

The 34-year-old was released without charges and police are warning the public about the dangers of playing with toy guns in a public area.
