A Calgary alderman says she has a new plan to encourage the use of snow tires.
Diane Colley-Urquhart tells the Calgary Sun she plans to ask the Police Commission and city council to try to make a German law work in Calgary.
Under the law, if you’re involved in a crash or your vehicle is backing up traffic, police examine your tires.
If they’re not winter tires, you get a $70 fine.
Colley-Urquhart says she believes bad driving on sub-par tires is as much to blame for snarling traffic as the city’s snow removal budget.
