World Skills Challenge called a cash cow

Businesses in Calgary are pleased now that the final numbers are in from the World Skills Competition which our city hosted last fall.

The local economic spin off benefit has hit the $100million dollar mark

The event was expected to bring in $82million dollars, so the results have exceeded expectations.

Alderman Ric McIver tells the sun that the numbers speak for themselves, calling the event “hugely successful.”

The event also left state of the art equipment behind and because there was money left over following the event a new World Skills Scholarship Program has also been established.
