A new case has surfaced in the Graham James’ hockey scandal as outrage grows over his quiet pardon by the National Parole Board in 2007.
CTV News is reporting another former player who lives in Calgary has come forward and filed a police report that he too was sexually assaulted by the coach.
The alleged victim played for James in Saskatchewan in the 1990’s.
Former Flames star Theoren Fleury is weighing in on the news that James was pardoned.
Fleury, who has also filed a complaint about James with Winnipeg police, says instead of focusing on the past, it’s time to focus on the future and what can be done to help other young sex abuse victims.
He says this is the perfect opportunity to begin the lobby to change the law.
Former NHL’er Sheldon Kennedy, who claims he was sexually abused by James more than 300 times in the mid-80’s says he can’t believe James has been granted a pardon.
Word of James’ pardon has the federal government considering changes to make it tougher for convicted sex abusers to receive a pardon.
Public Safety Minister Vic Toews says he’s looking at amending the law.
