Province recognizes safe companies

Alberta is giving the thumbs up to eight companies in our province for keeping their workers safe.
The province handed out its Worker Health and Safety Awards Monday morning.
Employment Minister Thomas Lukaszuk tells 660News he hopes Alberta firms will take a good look at the companies that came away with awards, to see what they can do better.
“Not only are they doing the right thing, but it also makes them much more competitive because when you have no accidents your WCB premiums go down and you’re more likely to succeed in the marketplace,” he says.
Companies get awards for innovation and leadership in their sectors.
Some also get awards for turning around a bad safety record.
