Cochrane the first municipality to recycle styrofoam

The town of Cochrane is the first municipality in the province to accept styrofoam for recycling.

Cochrane Recycling has collected styrofoam and other expanded polystyrene for the past 20 years.

On Friday, 20 palettes of compressed styrofoam were shipped to B.C. with China as its final destination.

Deputy Mayor Ross Watson tells CTV, recycling styrofoam makes a big difference to area landfills.

The styrofoam will then be turned into hard plastic for CD and DVD cases.
