No stars in Banff in January

The stars won’t be converging on Banff for the Waterkeeper’s Alliance event this season.

The celebrity ski invitation weekend is postponed until next year because the organization apparently has a foul taste in its mouth over what happened last season.

Waterkeeper President Robert F. Kennedy Junior said in a speech at the last event that Alberta fish were inedible because of mercury, along with fish across North America, but an organizer says it was taken as an attack on Alberta.

Mark Mattson says they’ll take a break this January but expect to be back for 2012.

The event typically attracts big stars like Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, Dan Akroyd and Meg Ryan.
