Calgarians flock indoors for midnight

This latest blast of arctic air, isn’t putting a hamper on many plans tonight to ring in the new year.

It seems many are preferring to choose the warmth and comfort of home as opposed to heading outdoors.

Colleen and Sue tell 660News, they’re opting for a “ladies night” inside.

“…maybe a little bit of wine, a little bit of food, not too much wine but we’ll put our feet up,” says Colleen.

Darryl says it’s all about keeping things simple.

“Family, friends and good times,” he says. “Just coming home and having a fireplace going, sitting down and playing games.”

Louise’s plans are somewhat similar for her husband tonight.

“Probably a nice supper, some wine, maybe some champagne and you know what comes after that right..” she laughs.

However Maria is opting more for the wintry weather option.

She tells 660News, she’s packing up the family and heading to Canmore.

“Well we decided to rent a condo, so the whole family can go out and enjoy it together, do some snow-boarding tomorrow and maybe some tobogganing,” she says.

No matter what the plans, it seems most could all agree they’ll be ringing in the New Year with friends and family.
