Alberta politics exciting and unpredictable

A political analyst says recent polls suggests the Alberta political landscape is headed for a tectonic shift.

Joan Crockatt with Crockatt Communications believes the results of a new Envrionics survey were influenced by the resignation announcement by Premier Ed Stelmach.

Crockatt says Tory party fortunes are up at the expense of the Wildrose party especially in rural areas.

However she says the goverment always polls better when the legislature is not sitting, adding the election of a new leader has renewed interest in the Tories.

Crockatt tells 660News with the Tories and Liberals both choosing new leaders and the emergence of the Alberta party, nobody can accurately predict the outcome of the coming election.

She adds for the first time in decades Alberta politics is becoming exciting again.

The Environics Poll gives the Tories the backing of 38 per cent, the Wildrose has the support of 26 per cent, Liberals at 22 per cent with the NDP stuck in 4th at 10 per cent.
