Police launch Fraud Awareness Month

Calgary police are teaming up with Southcentre Mall to launch Fraud Awareness Month.

They’re hoping a new pin-pad lockdown being introduced to all the mall’s 180 stores will lock bad-guys out of your bank account.

The device is designed to lock the mall’s 450 debit pads into place, to keep them from being tampered with.

Police say they hope other malls will follow suit.

Even with a pad lockdown, police say it’s still a good idea for people to hide their PIN number.

Police also suggest reporting any suspicious transactions or clerks acting strangely to the bank.
