Sex offender granted day parole

A convicted child molester in our city who admits he may be at risk to offend again has been granted day parole.
67-year-old David Watkins, who has served only a year and a half of a four year sentence for sexually assaulting two young girls for over a year in 2008 at a dayhome in Silver Springs will now serve his parole at a halfway house.
At a parole hearing, Watkins admitted that even while undergoing sex offender rehabilitation, he could be tempted to re-offend if left unsupervised with children.
Conditions of his release include having no contact with his victims or their families or any females under the age of 18 without an adult present.
