Air Canada may pull NHL funding over head shots

It could be a tipping point for head shots in the NHL.
In a season that has seen the game’s biggest star, Sidney Crosby, sidelined with a concussion, and in the aftermath of the horrid hit on Max Pacioretty of the Montreal Canadiens by Boston Bruins defenceman Zdeno Chara, one of the league’s biggest corporate financial backers is threatening to withdraw sponsorship.
Air Canada is reportedly very worried about associating its brand name with a sport in which players are getting seriously injured and is concerned that a death will inevitably happen if changes aren’t made soon.
According to The Calgary Sun, Air Canada is demanding the NHL take immediate and serious action or its financial support will be yanked.
Air Canada is a big financial backer of all six Canadian NHL teams.
