New trial date set for men accused of killing financier

It will be almost a year before two men accused of killing a Calgary financier are retried for murder.

Jack Beauchamp’s body was found in a downtown office building back in 2006.

Mohamed Ali Karim, 30, is charged with shooting Beauchamp, while 57-year-old Bob Deer is accused of having hired Karim for the job.

The two have been convicted of the murder before but the case is being retried because an appeal found the original judge made several errors.

The Calgary Herald reports the new trial is scheduled to start in October.
