Outrider labour unrest continues

The Calgary Stampede says rules are rules and they will stand, despite threats of a boycott by outriders.

Safety changes for this year’s Rangeland Derby will cut the number of riders per race from four to two.

Some outriders upset with the change plan to state their case at a news conference scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday.

According to The Calgary Sun the Stampede’s new rules have the support of the CPCA and WPCA, the two leading organizations representing chuckwagon drivers.
