Prime Minister Harper accused his opponents of bickering during the televised English language leaders debate.
Almost all verbal barbs were aimed at Harper.
They ranged from issues like corporate taxes, crime, the accusation of contempt of parliament against the Conservatives and health care.
Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff pointed to Harper and replied that it wasn’t bickering.
He said the debate is about democracy, not a pesky irrelevance that was getting in the way of Harper’s power.
Harper made a pitch several times for a majority government for his Conservatives.
He said the cycle of election after election is putting some of the country’s interests in jeopardy.
Bloc Quebecois leader Gilles Duceppe called Harper out on his attacks against a so-called reckless coalition of the other three parties.
He pointed out that in 2004, Harper attempted to set up his own coalition with the Bloc and NDP if Paul martin’s government failed.
