Five ATV’ers become stranded in wilderness

After days of being stranded and a nine hour rescue, a group of outdoor enthusiasts are thankful to be alive.

On Sunday morning five individuals headed out to do some quading in the Waiparous area, located about 75km northwest of Calgary, when their vehicle became stuck in a secluded area.

The group unsuccessfully tried to free themselves before finally sending two members of their group for help on Monday.

Adam Loria with EMS tells 660News two people had to be taken to hospital.

“An adult male and female were transported to a Calgary hospital. They were transported in stable non-life threatening condition, again from just some pre-existing medical conditions and issues that arose,” says Loria.

He adds Conservation Officers, RCMP members, EMS, STARS and Public Safety Communications were all involved in the rescue that finally managed to get all members of the party home early Tuesday morning.
