Federal politicians avoid campaigning on Siksika Reserve

As Federal election candidates scramble to climb up the polls, it seems they’re forgetting to campaign in a certain demographic.
There are no candidate forums or signs on the Siksika Reserve.
The cultural curator at the Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park, Treffrey Deerfoot, tells the Calgary Herald people on the reserve wouldn’t even know there is an election going on.
He says the four national party leaders haven’t been paying much attention to aboriginal issues, from poverty and education to independence and infrastructure.
A Native American studies professor at the University of Lethbridge says it’s a mistake to dismiss support from the country’s fastest-growing population.
