Alberta government extends Gas Plus cleanup

Alberta Environment has issued a second cleanup order against the Gas Plus station in Bowness that leaked over 9,000 litres of fuel into the soil and water table.

According to The Calgary Sun, the province ruled that the gas station didn’t get the contaminated soil cleaned up quickly enough when they asked them to do it the first time back in December.

This time, the province is asking they map out the extent of the leak and start cleaning it up May 10th, before it spreads with the melting snow.

The province says they don’t want it to reach the Bow River.
