Calgary schools could soon be teaching Arabic as a second language.
The Calgary Board of Education is considering offering the program starting in September 2012.
Focusing on the Arabic language and culture, the program would initially be offered to Kindergarten and Grade 1 students and would expand by one grade each year.
Between 30 and 50 per cent of the classes would be held in Arabic, and the rest in English.
The CBE will hold an open house on May 19th at Central Memorial High School to gauge public interest.
