The RCMP is standing by its decision to charge three men with killing a horse near Sundre, despite evidence found later proving the mare died of natural causes.
Sgt. Patrick Webb says the force made the best decision they could at the time, considering the evidence they had.
The Crown withdrew the charges after four hunters came forward with photos proving the horse had not been shot.
The men have always maintained that when they found the horse, it was already dead and they simply moved it off the road.
