Feds preserve major Alberta wetland

Alberta waterfowl can continue to nest in Alberta’s southeast, in the Bullshead area for generations to come, thanks to a $1-million boost from Environment Canada and the dedication of Ducks Unlimited.

Bullshead is near Cypress Hills and it’s home to all kinds of waterfowl, including the at-risk Northern Pintail Duck.

Ducks Unlimited President Jack Hole says the region covers 2200 acres.

“To get that size continuous block of critical, priority 1-A habitat and be able to get the whole piece is a fabulous marquis project for us,” says Hole.

Hole says the Bullshead area will also serve to showcase the organization’s research and conservation programs to its partners and the public for decades to come.
