Water safety tips for the summer

Most people who drown, don’t ever plan to go into the water and weren’t prepared for the accident.
With this sobering fact in mind, STARS and the Lifesaving Society are partnering in an effort to prevent injuries, medical emergencies and death, due to recreational activities.
Barb Kusyanto with the Society tells 660News the May long weekend is the start of drowning season and it’s important to be prepared with a life jacket or a floatation device especially in, around and on water.
She adds, the Lifesaving Society offers a swim program for both children and adults, that focuses on three basic skills, if an individual gets into trouble in the water.
