The uneventful May long weekend commute home

Many Calgarians have made their way back to the city after a long weekend of camping.

By all accounts, the drive back to the city was uneventful with only a few calls to the 660News traffic desk with complaints of higher then normal traffic volumes on Highway #1 out of the mountain parks.

Fire and alcohol bans were imposed over the weekend because of dry conditions.

Wet weather over Sunday and Monday may have led to a number of people returning home early.

A number of campsites were also closed in Kananaskis because a higher than normal snow pack this winter delayed the spring melt, making conditions very muddy.
