Military jet crashes at CFB Cold Lake

A jet used to train fighter pilots has crashed at CFB Cold Lake in northeastern Alberta.

Cpt. Nicole Meszaros says the two pilots in the CT 155 Hawk ejected and landed safely.

They were checked for injuries by a wing flight surgeon.

Cpt. Meszaros says they walked away from the aircraft and they are okay.

The plane appeared to burst into flames following the crash, as pictures from the scene show large plumes of black smoke billowing out of some thick brush.

The cause of the crash isn’t known.
