Crash Landing on Hwy 1

A pilot is in hospital after a stunning crash-landing on Highway 1.

It happened near the Alberta-BC border just after 5p.m. Friday afternoon.

Fire crews in Field, BC, responded after a pilot’s emergency landing about 5-kilometres west of the town.

One firefighter tells the Calgary Sun, it was an attempted landing on the Trans Canada Highway but the plane spun out and hit the ditch.

The plane was a privately owned aircraft reportedly out of Abbotsford and headed to Springbank Airport, just outside Calgary.

STARS flew the pilot to hospital in Calgary but it’s not known how serious his injuries are.
