An attempted murder charge filed against film maker Mark Twitchell has been stayed now that the Edmonton man has been convicted of first degree murder in the death of Johnny Altinger.
The charge related to an alleged attack on Gilles Tetreault, who — like Altinger — was lured to an Edmonton garage by Twitchell under the premise of meeting a woman.
When he got there Tetrault told court he was attacked by a masked man with a stun baton who threatened to shoot him. Tetrault found out the stun mechanism was a fake, fought off the attack and escaped.
The next week, Altinger was lured to and killed in the same garage.
Twitchell has said previously that he wants to appeal his first degree murder conviction.
