The driver of a school bus carrying 12 children miraculously managed to avoid a huge pothole Wednesday morning spanning the entire roadway.
It happened around 8:30 a.m. south of Innisfail on Township Road 350.
Recent heavy rain is being blamed for washing out the gravel road leaving a massive hole over three metres deep and spanning the entire width of the road.
Four children between the ages of 7 and 10 years old were taken to hospital with minor injuries while the bus driver was uninjured.
Damage to the bus is believed to be extensive.
The road is closed until crews can fill it in and it’s not expected the driver will face any charges.
