With more than 300 sponsors, this year’s Calgary Stampede has raked in more than $10-million in advertising money.
The Calgary Herald reports revenue for the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth increases by about two to three per cent every year.
Even during the recent recession, businesses still found money to spend on sponsorship at the massive event.
Advertising at the Calgary Stampede is paying off for one company in particular.
According to The Calgary Herald, when asked to name a sponsor for the Calgary Stampede, 54 per cent of the people surveyed last year said BMO Financial Group.
Other companies that pony up big bucks for advertising are Labatt, General Motors Canada and Enmax; each paying at least $375,000 in advertising every year.
During the very first official Calgary Stampede in 1912, it cost four businessmen just $25,000 each to fund the event.
