Stampede fun heats up for final weekend

In three days, the curtain will come down on Calgary’s annual western party.
Stampede attendance is up slightly this year over last and with hot sunny weather in the forecast, organizers are expecting big crowds down at the grounds.
The Stampede’s manager of publicity, Jennifer Booth, tells 660News the daily rodeo, nightly chuckwagon races and grandstand show are still the big attractions.
Booth says the midway also continues to pack them in, with thrillseekers looking for some heart-stopping fun on the Polar Express and the Mega Drop.
People are also being told to expect a bit of a lineup at the doughnut burger shack, which is the hottest food attraction on the midway.
For those looking for a place to sit and relax, Booth recommends the Enmax Ice Show and the Western Oasis area.
Despite the success of the 99th edition of the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, organizers say some big things are in the works for next year’s centennial celebration.
