Markets down after announcement to raise debt limit

Despite the U.S. government passing the bill to raise the debt limit, the markets are still on a downward trend.

The TSX composite fell 193 points to 12,752, down nearly 1.5 per cent.

The Dow slipped more than two per cent, down 265 points to 11,866.

Oil fell $1.10 to $93.79 per barrel, while the Canadian dollar is down more than half a cent, settling at 104.14 cents U.S.
