Seniors booted during apartment renos

Seniors in a subsidized housing complex are being made to leave their homes for up to two years during renovations, and they’re not happy about it.

People living in the Geo C. King tower will have to leave in April when the upgrades get underway.

Residents tell The Calgary Sun, they can’t afford the cost of moving, and it’s difficult for seniors to be uprooted.

A spokeswoman for Alberta Housing and Development says the plans have been in the works for a while, and everyone’s being given another place to live as well as help with moving.
