A 47 year old Calgary man is facing several charges in connection to a plot to murder his ex-wife’s new lover.
Homicide investigators say he solicited at least one person to kill the victim and believe there may be others.
“We quickly interpreted this situation as to be very serious and generated and put a lot of resources into this investigation, through the end of last week and over the weekend,” says Staff Sergeant Grant Miller who says police first learned of the suspect last week when one of the solicited hit men contacted investigators.
47 year old Kishore Kevin Kapur of Calgary is facing three counts of counselling another person to commit kidnapping, assault and murder, and three counts of uttering threats of bodily harm.
“The Calgary Police Service interpreted the severity of this situation so much so that the homicide unit got involved,” added Sergeant Miller who couldn’t elaborate on a lot of the details but says the suspect was offering a sizeable amount of money. “I think that speaks volumes as to how serious we interpreted the threat.”
Miller says the Crown may ask for a psychiatric assessment of Kapur.
He would not say how many hit men were allegedly hired, but says police are still looking for at least one person they believe had contact with the suspect.
