A 70-year-old man has been hit and killed by a semi truck on Stoney Trail near Metis Trail on the city’s north-end.
It appears to be a freak accident.
Duty Inspector Darren Cave tells 660News the victim was trying to help the truck driver with some repairs.
“The victim was assisting the 62-year-old semi – truck driver with working or checking on the brakes of the vehicle and it looks like the driver thought the victim was away from the vehicle and ran him over,” said Cave.
The man was dragged for about 14 metres before the driver stopped.
Cave says the man died suddenly before EMS was able to transport him to hospital.
His name has not been released.
