Albertans had the chance to remember a charismatic politician at a couple candlelight vigils Wednesday night.
In Calgary, hundreds gathered for a candlelight vigil for Jack Layton at Tompkins Park along 17th Avenue Southwest.
In Edmonton, on the steps of the legislature, provincial NDP leader Brian Mason joined mourners for a similar vigil.
Mason tells 660News the Edmonton vigil was wonderful. “People came together out of sorrow and love for Layton,” he says.
Mason adds a couple thousand people showed up for the vigil, many of them with candles, singing, cheering and crying.
