Weekend festivals take over Calgary

Are you dreaming of summer getaways and exotic vacations to soak up a little sun and experience a new culture?

If you’re in Calgary this weekend you can do both, without even leaving the city!

If you need a little Latin flavour to spice up your weekend, the 15th Annual Expo Latino will shake up Prince’s Island Park.

The event features the sounds of Latin performers including Juno Award winning Compadres and Oscar Lopez.

Savannah Hall, spokesperson for the event says, the Expo gives goers a taste of other cultures without having to leave Calgary.

It’s also a good idea to bring your dancing shoes!

Calgary Globalfest also wraps up this weekend, with the fifth and final night of fireworks scheduled for Saturday. Over 22,000 people are expected to be in attendance at Elliston Park in the Southeast.

The 1st Annual Calgary Bluegrass Festival wants you to get out, breathe in some fresh air, and listen to some great tunes this weekend.

Foothills Stadium will be transformed to a festival venue on Saturday and Sunday, and will host campers and trailers for those who don’t mind fighting a few mosquitoes.

And if you’d like some to rest your mind, check out the 3rd Annual India Fest to take advantage of their free yoga demonstration.  They’ll also offer food, vendors, and a chance to learn some Bollywood dance moves.

India Fest goes 11:00am to 5:00pm Sunday at Shaw Millennium Park.
