Sunday marks day four of Calgary’s Pride Week with the much anticipated Pride Parade.
After leaving Olympic Plaza, a sea of rainbow travelled down Stephen Avenue to Calgary’s Pride Street Festival at Shaw Millennium Park.
Over 15,000 people flocked to Stephen Avenue and the park to celebrate all genders, sexual orientations, cultures and backgrounds.
And for the first time in two decades of the parade’s existence, a Calgary mayor acted as marshal.
Naheed Nenshi led this year’s parade in a red convertible sporting a purple shirt that read “Straight not Narrow”.
The mayor was greeted with loud applause, as he was presented with a rainbow cowboy hat.
Calgary’s Pride Week runs until September 11th.
