A woman in her 60s is in life‑threatening condition after she was hit by a school bus in southwest Calgary on Thursday afternoon.

Police say the collision happened around 3 p.m. near 162 Avenue SW and 6 Street SW in Somerset.

The woman was walking when she was struck. She was first taken to hospital as a precaution with injuries that didn’t appear serious, but her condition later worsened.

Investigators are still determining what caused the crash. Police say it’s too early to know whether impairment, speed or distraction were factors.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 403‑266‑1234 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
