Final public hearings into proposed Keystone XL pipeline

Hundreds of environmentalists packed a meeting hall on Friday, in Washington, as the U.S. State Department holds it’s final public hearing on TransCanadas proposed Keystone XL pipeline.
The project has become a lightning rod for the American environmental movement.
John Kerekes with the American Petroleum Institute, which supports the pipeline, tells 660News that after three years of discussion and public hearings, U.S. President Obama has to make a decision before the start of 2012.
Kerekes says opponents of the pipeline are doing their best to delay a decision, hoping the project will die of old age or inattention.
The U.S. State Department promises to consider all arguments for and against, before submitting it’s recommendation to the oval office.
