Online vehicle scam

A new warning is out for consumers who plan to sell their personal vehicles online.

Private sellers have reported that when they place a free classified ad online to sell their vehicle, a company responds.

This company claims to know buyers interested in this type of car or truck and offers to put buyers and sellers together…for a fee.

Alberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council Member Bob Hamilton tells 660News, “it appears these companies guarantee they have buyers for your vehicle.  That’s just not realistic.”

Hamilton says legitimate automotive Agent/Broker businesses must have a licence to operate in Alberta and suggests buyers avoid using an unknown third party.
