Olympic Plaza occupiers staying put

Thursday’s the day Occupy Calgary protesters are supposed to leave Olympic Plaza, but they’re not going anywhere after nearly two weeks.

With no official permit to be there, the campers agreed to move to a corner of the plaza while a Muslim group rents out the space Saturday, and take it back over afterwards.

Tom Sampson of the Calgary Emergency Management Agency tells The Calgary Sun, he’s wondering why their right to protest is trampling the rights of everyone else to use Olympic Plaza.

City lawyers say they can’t be forced to leave because the city would have to prove irreparable harm is being done.
